La Geria, the vulcan wine
Crossing the Natural Park of la Geria and watching the vines in the heart of the volcanic land means to enjoy one of the Lanzarote most unbelievable wonders.
The traditional vines cultivation that can be found at both sides of the road has its origins on the exploitation of humidity and wind protection. Its singularity and aesthetic will not leave you indifferent.
From this incredible place come many tasteful wines. The most important one is the Malvasía, of international repute for its slight and exquisite flavour. You can taste it at any of the wineries you will find along the road. The route begins at the charming village of Uga and finishes at the Monumento al Campesino, which was designed by César Manrique. Near this monument there is a restaurant where typical dishes of the islands gastronomy are served.
The island cheeses are particularly requested on the most demanding markets around the world.
La Geria Natural Park is a protected area, in which there are small trekking routes signed.
